Steve Brody
Steve Brody is an actor with an impressive credit list.
This list includes This Is England (86, 88, 90), The Office, Extras, Life's Too Short, I'm Alan Partridge and the Armando Iannucci Shows.
Steve Brody studied Philosophy at Lancaster and Law at City University. He had plans for a career as a barrister. Instead, he co-founded a theatre company (for which he wrote, directed and performed). Then he turned to stand-up and reached the final of the Edinburgh 'So You Think You're Funny Competition', before going on to become a familiar face (and voice) in some of the finest TV, radio and movie productions of the last two decades.
His credits read like a Who’s Who of comedy with some drama attached.
Insanely versatile, they include; Luca, Armando’s mad barber in The Armando Iannucci Shows, Piet Morant the South African fireplace salesman who (in)famously shocked Alan Partridge with his pronunciation of “can’t”, David Brent’s hapless agent, Pete, in The Office Christmas Specials, Maggie’s grim Estate Agent in Extras, and Warwick Davis’ incompetent accountant, Eric Biddle, in Life’s Too Short.
Then there’s cafe-owner Angelo in Sharon Horgan’s Angelo’s, sleazy Wheelchair Dave in PhoneShop, clownish lawyer Barry in Murder on the Blackpool Express, and the darkly comic Crematorium Official turned swinger Geoff in After Life; he stepped into space as American Mike in Armando Iannucci’s Avenue 5, doubled up as uncool Bill Amsherp and cool Sal Paradise in Ladhood, while in Ireland he is celebrated as the legendary Angelo Quaid in The Hardy Bucks.
Steve has also appeared in serious dramas - as South African diamond dealer Thomas DeHoyzen in Vexed, as earnestly protective father, Richard Woodford in Shane Meadows' This is England 86, 88 and 90, for Danny Boyle in Pistol and opposite the late Glenda Jackson as a doorstepping journalist in Mothering Sunday.
Always on the lookout for new challenges, Steve was US executive Evan Plesh in Joe Pelling’s “The Return of Volvy” for Devolver as part of the summer game fest in 2023
Steve also features as sad driving instructor Gary in Lucia Keskin’s Gen Z comedy Things You Should Have Done.
His writing credits include The Apostles, The Armando Iannucci Shows and The 11 O’Clock Show. He’s also done tons of voice-overs from Coca-Cola to Disney and Panorama to Pinky and Perky. Sometimes Steve writes songs and sings them.
“Steve Brody as Warwick's ineffectual giggly/depressive accountant continued to shine”. Metro
His “slightly accented, often nonsensical stream-of-consciousness ramblings repeatedly reduced me to fits of giggles.” Cine Outsider
